BONAPARTE, Prince Jerome Napoleon known as Plon-Plon (1822-1891). Set of 10 documents: 9 L.A. addressed to Emma Élizabeth Crouch dite Cora Pearl (1836-1886), famous courtesan of the Second Empire and one L.A.S. Florence, London, Prangins (Switzerland) and s.l., s.d. and 1856. 23 pp. mostly in-8. An envelope to "Madame Emma Cruch" with a red wax seal decorated with the letter M. Some tears without missing. Uncommon love correspondence from Prince Napoleon to the courtesan Cora Pearl, his "Belle P.". The letters are not signed and the names are abbreviated, for discretion. From Italy (Florence, "this 26th February"): "You know very well that your news never annoys me. I am surprised that you have not received the diamond earrings. I am sending you the receipt from the post office. [...] I kiss the beautiful P as long as possible". He evokes their close relations, his nephew Achille Murat, the business (he is in a bad situation), the sale of his art objects, their affection, etc. The last letter contains a long and interesting reflection on politics, his Algerian projects, the 30,000 typhus and scurvy patients in the army, the soldiers in the East, etc. He adds, "I was very painfully affected by the serious and long illness of my Father. An original photographic portrait of the beautiful Cora Pearl is attached. Silver print of the period. Business card size (8,8 x 5,5 cm).
