[BERNADOTTE, Jean-Baptiste Jules, Karl XIV... - Lot 40 - Gros & Delettrez
[BERNADOTTE, Jean-Baptiste Jules, Karl XIV Johan (1763-1844), marshal of the Empire and future King of Sweden and Norway]. Letter signed "Bernadotte" (member of his family) to M. Loubix. Grenoble, March 15, 1808. 3 pp. large in-8. Beautiful letter from a close relative of Jean Bernadotte, about his military advances against Sweden. He forwards a letter: "Letters to highnesses, and especially to generals-in-chief, have the privilege of not getting lost - but when and where: In Zeeland and perhaps in Stockholm, for who knows where our hero must go and will stop - one thing is sure, or at least very probable, that he will not be in Hamburg for long! Now you know, or you should know how much for men preoccupied with battles, and battles seriously mix with objects which are absolutely foreign to them [...] ". A L.S. from Jean Bernadotte is attached. S.l.n.d. 1 p. in-4. About a request for leave.
