TURPIN DE CRISSÉ, Lancelot-Théodore (1782-1859).... - Lot 32 - Gros & Delettrez
TURPIN DE CRISSÉ, Lancelot-Théodore (1782-1859). Set of 7 L.A.S. to various correspondents: the baron Taylor, the secretary of the school of Fine Arts M. Dumont, the draughtsman M. Laguiche, the gentleman of the King M. de Veze, etc. S.l., 1835, 1846, 1849 and s.d. About 7 pp. in-4 or in-8. Two red wax seals preserved with antique profiles. Interesting correspondence. He evokes drawings, some of them lithographed, his work Souvenirs du vieux Paris, the restoration of a 16th century manor house, the drawing of "the great stone of the museum of Nismes" on which he "worked relentlessly; I took up this drawing from the top to the first plan, I raised it by two tones. It is for me an immense work, it is my reception piece and my eyes feel a bit." He asks Baron Taylor for "three good proofs on china of this drawing, when the printing will be done". Turpin de Crissé adds "My painting of St Germain l'Auxerrois was sold yesterday to a Society" which will print it, etc. Attached : TURPIN DE CRISSÉ, Lancelot (1716-1793), French military and writer. L.A.S. Paris, August 1784. 1 p. in-4. Beautiful letter from Count Turpin de Crissé, grandfather of the above. Touching request for pardon for a grenadier of his son Henry's regiment "to avoid his death" and preferring a "commutation of the sentence".
