SIGNAC, Paul. L.A.S. S.l. [Paris], January... - Lot 30 - Gros & Delettrez
SIGNAC, Paul. L.A.S. S.l. [Paris], January 24, 1907. 2 pp. in-8. Nice "PS" numeral at the top. "Would you be so kind as to invite me to the Venice exhibition? I would be very happy to send some of my paintings (which you will be able to see at my exhibition, currently at Mr. Bernheim's) [...] especially since this summer I have to make a rather prolonged stay in Venice [...]". We know the sumptuous views of Venice that Signac painted. An autograph letter signed by Héloïse Signac, the artist's mother, addressed to Camille PISSARRO is attached. S.l., May 20, 1892. 3 pp. in-8. Violet ink. Nice letter about the upcoming marriage of Paul Signac, with a little cousin of Pissarro. She praises the great loyalty of her son " [...] I am very happy about the happiness you promise me, with the qualities of the one who, soon I hope, will be my daughter. And I assure you that it is without any ulterior motive, & with the only aim of their happiness to both, that I asked my son to legitimize this union, already so old, and that I ignored completely [...] I love him already for the happiness that it gave him, since so a long time [...] ".
