"Prosequor : alis", Europe, circa 1880-1890 Folded fan, the leaf in fine lace decorated with scrolls and foliage. Mounted entirely in black mother-of-pearl called Tahiti, the throat cut with a frieze of hearts. The plumes are carved. The first, of a flower surmounted by the motto "PROSEQU/OR: ALIS", and a bird on a tower. The second one with a flower surmounting the motto and a figure "JL". Brace and tassel of passementerie. H.t. 27,3 cm-H.f. 13,1 cm (restorations) N.B. : " Prosequor/ alis " is the motto of the English Carstume family (Cassan). Some members of the family emigrated to Ireland, others to the United States in the 19th century.
