To date, the SZEKELY estate has not been able to recognize this work.  André Borderie was born in 1923 and will be at the same time artist, painter, sculptor and ceramist. His meeting in 1945 with the poster artist Paul Colin, directs him towards painting and decides to take up an artistic career. We find the graphics of Paul Klee's constructions in his work but his influences are diverse and evolving. In 1948, he settled with Pierre and Véra Szekely in Bures-sur-Yvettes and then in Marcoussis in 1955 and created paintings, ceramics and furniture with them. It was with them that he discovered the work of ceramics, which he would refine throughout his career, through his encounters and collaborations, notably with other ceramist-creators such as André Aleth Masson. In the mid-1950s, André Borderie's work was uncluttered with architectural lines. In the vase we present, his so-called biomorphic forms are, as often, slightly asymmetrical, off-centre. The monochrome palette used sublimates the rendering of graphic forms and the chamotte clay with its granular aspect that Borderie likes. Instead of perfection, Borderie prefers the poetry that he instills in his creations.
