Large “poupée empeaussée” from the very beginning of the Second Empire This very beautiful specimen is of the type assembled, dressed and distributed by the Jumeau company in the early 1850s. It has a papier-mâché shoulder-head imported from Germany, the mouth is closed, the black glass eyes are stationary, the features finely painted and perfectly preserved. Its original wig is made of natural brown hair, styled with refinement. The body is in white leather, stuffed with crumbled cork and articulated with gussets with each finger sewn separately, dressed in a splendid cotton voile dress printed with blue patterns, rich underneath, hand-stitched leather shoes, splendid almond green velvet toquet with fine lace and silk ribbon, all original, 29’’.
