Bookcase opening with two glass doors, in blackened wood and ebony veneer, inlaid in the first part and counterpart of red scale and brass in the taste of the Boulle. Early 18th century. Circular stamps of Nicolas SAGEOT (1666-1731), received Master in 1706, (4 times) on the back, on the right top, on the crossbar and on the upright. H. 241cm / l. 140cm Accidents, missing and restorations, the bronze mask to be reattached under the cornice. Transformations in the locking system, the added bottom, the changed windows. Note : The inlaid decoration of our library is almost identical to that of a pair of libraries stamped with Nicolas Sageot's name, the old Adriano Ribolzi collection (n° 35 of the Sotheby's sale in Paris on November 30, 2011), moreover some bronzes are found on other furniture (those of the cornerstones and masks) and we know that Nicolas Sageot had exclusive bronze models. - Nicolas Sageot (1666-1731), active from about 1690 to 1720.
